Human yeast infection pills for dogs?

I don’t think I’m going to use pills for yeast infection (made for dogs or humans) but just as a heads up, do pills humans use for yeast infections work as well as pills you give to your dog for it? I’ve heard people say that they do, and people say that they don’t.

There are different kinds of yeast infections so I would not use any meds for my dog unless my vet approved it first.

I agree with Goldengal. There are different medications for yeast and fungal infections. Some are OK for dogs, some not. Also calculating the dose a dog can be tricky due to size difference. To be safe, I wouldn’t do it. Some things that appear to be yeast infections are actually something else. These skin issues can be a challenge. I think a vet visit is best. Will likely save $$ in the long run.

Are you talking about Diflucan (fluconazole)? If so below is a link to an article about the possible side effects.

If you haven’t been prescribed this drug by a vet, I wouldn’t use it on your dog since this can only treat yeast and fungi. And only your vet can determine exactly what your dog has.
